Sweetcorn Kernel

This little comic strip by Simmone Lia is on the back of a book called 'Pictures and Words,New Comic Art and Narrative Illustration'. There is a clever bit of reverse psychology going on here, as this is on the outside of the book you would see this before you looked inside and although the sweetcorn kernel is telling us its rubbish and we shouldn't read it, it makes you actually want to look inside and find out. You would think a sweetcorn kernel would be a rather inexpressive character but with just a slight alteration to the mouth and position if the arms it manages to be unimpressed, exasperated, resigned and slightly haughty. This subtle technique will be helpful in my project.
