This Christmas card by John Gorham has an overlay that transforms the scene. The top image is wintry but still has some colour. However when the overlay covers it, it creates a cold snowy scene. The white on the overlay covers the colours and makes snowflakes and snow on the trees. This idea could be taken further by adding different overlays to change the season.
